This is a source package for intel-speed-select utility for building outside of the linux kernel source tree. This source is same as what can be found at git://git.kernel.org/pub/scm/linux/kernel/git/torvalds/linux.git under tools/power/x86/intel-speed-select folder. But there is a lag in merging to mainline linux git, so they may differ for some time. This utility can always be built from the kernel source tree. Some users prefer building outside the kernel source tree. So there is a difference in Makefile. To build this source, you need "gcc" and "make" commands on your platform. Download the *.tar.gz file and use tar xvf to decompress. Then simply use "make". Sample usage: - Install libnl-genl-3-dev For Fedora/CenOS dnf install libnl3-devel For Ubuntu apt install libnl-3-dev libnl-genl-3-dev - Download the zip file by selecting "Code" and download zip file. For example if the downloaded zip is intel-speed-select-utility-src-packages-34de5f67f4a369b040a5a74b0ae3103c0abd2535.zip Then $ unzip intel-speed-select-utility-src-packages-34de5f67f4a369b040a5a74b0ae3103c0abd2535.zip $ cd intel-speed-select-utility-src-packages-34de5f67f4a369b040a5a74b0ae3103c0abd2535 $ tar xvf intel-speed-select-v1.5-rc1.tar.gz $ cd intel-speed-select- $ make This will build the "intel-speed-select" folder. Version history: v1.21: Fix restoring TRL after SST-TF disable v1.20: Set TRL MSR in 100 MHz units v1.19: See the commit log v1.11 - Fix base-freq enable with auto mode when turbo disabled from BIOS v1.10 - Fix for memory frequency display v1.9 - Support increased number of CPUs - Return error when mailbox commmand fails to enable core-power - Option to online all CPUs - Remove build date and time print v1.8 - Set scaling_max_freq to base-freq to take care of issue with BIOS disable turbo and kernel changes post 5.8 for setting HWP.max to HWP.guarantee. - Add new commands for turbo-mode disable/enable and set-trl` v1.6 - Processing of failure of mailbox command to get core mask during change config level with -o option v1.7 - For fixing issue when there is no die_id syfs and TRL display from mailbox when there is no SST-PP present on non Skylake based systems. v1.5 Change to debug print only for the message for mailbox retry failures. v1.5-rc1 - Add retries for mail box commands: On failure mailbox commands are retried for 3 times. User can use -r option to change retry count. - Add option to delay mbox commands: Use -p command to add delay between two mail box commands in millisecond. For example: -p 1000 for 1000 ms delay. - Ignore -o option processing on mail box command error for changing config level - Change path for caching topology info: This changes the cache file path to /var/run which should be refreshed after reboot
