Portugal do século XV.

15th Century Portugal.
At the dawn of the Golden Age of the Portuguese Empire, in the early decades of the 15th century, strange supernatural incursions began to emerge from the depths of Lusitanian soil. The people murmured in churches and town squares about these events, which no one fully understood.

The Christians were quick to point to Satan, evoking images of hell and damnation. The Jews, with their mystical traditions, believed these were fallen angels, punished and exiled. The Muslims, well-versed in ancient tales, spoke of malevolent spirits, djinn lost between worlds. And there were those who claimed that these apparitions belonged to the faerie realm, enchanted beings who walked the line between the human and the divine.

One thing, however, was known to all: wherever these incursions took place, ancient artifacts and long-lost treasures resurfaced from the shadows. Forgotten riches, containing ancestral knowledge and powers, were within reach of the bold few who dared to approach.

Scholars from every field of science and philosophy, fascinated by the mystery, longed to study these discoveries, thirsting for knowledge. The religious, for their part, were divided. Some feared the profane touch of these relics, suspecting their impure origins, while others saw in them signs of divine trial. Knights, their hearts filled with bravery — or perhaps greed — armed themselves to face the creatures guarding such riches, in search of glory and fortune. Merchants, ever alert to opportunity, saw in these relics a new and lucrative market, eager to trade with the mysterious and the unknown.

And, above all, the illustrious rulers of the Portuguese crown watched with ambitious eyes. If these incursions were signs of something greater, something tied to the lands their navigators were beginning to explore beyond the seas, then it fell upon them to ensure that every treasure and secret unearthed from Lusitanian soil was used for the empire’s advancement. After all, the winds of the Discoveries were blowing, and any advantage — earthly or supernatural — would be crucial for Portugal’s destiny.
