Which browsers do you support?

Chrome and Firefox. There are ways to install Chrome extensions on other browsers, and we've heard that it works, but none of the developers test these browsers so use them at your own risk.

What about Safari?

Safari is a different beast all together. Some of the devs have made it work as a proof of concept, but there are some odd quirks that will need to be figured out. Primarily, the weird "show all tabs when you zoom out" feature really messes with the zooming of maps. This is a post-v1 goal.

Do you support tablets?

No. Some people have been able to install the Chrome extension on some Android tablets, but none of the devs test this setup so use it at your own risk.

What about iPad?

As soon as we add support for Safari, this will "just work"

How do I upload my images for maps, tokens, etc?

AboveVTT doesn't host any images so you'll need to upload them somewhere else, and then use the publicly available url. I made the publicly available part bold because that is the most important part. Any url that you use must be available to anyone or your players will not see what you see. We recommend testing the url in a private browsing tab before you use it. The url also needs to be for the image directly. Some hosting sites will give you a url to a page that shows you the image, but we need a url that points directly to the image. You may need to right-click the image and select "copy image address".

What hosting sites do you recommend?

• S3 (if you know what you're doing there)
• Dropbox
• Imgur (make sure you right-click the image to get the url)
• Your own private Discord (post the image, right-click it, then "copy link")
• Reddit (similar to Imgur, just post it somewhere, right-click it, then "copy image address")
• Google Drive (Make sure the image is shared with "anyone with the link" and test it in a private browsing window. This is BY FAR the most finicky hosting site that we've encountered)
• If you've had good luck with other hosting sites, let us know so we can update this list!

As a DM, how can I see what my player's see?

Go to the campaign page, and click the "Join AboveVTT" button on any character. This will open the game in a new tab as that character.

When I join as both DM and Character, I see rolls that are supposed to be private to me

This is because you're viewing both as the same account. The rolls that are private to you, are private to your account. So your account has access to those rolls regardless of where you view them. Don't worry, your players won't see those rolls. You can create a second account, if you don't trust us, but you could also just trust us on this one 🙂

Can I disable the digital dice?

We love D&D Beyond, and we love their dice. We don't plan on bypassing them in any way. Some people have used the beyond20 plugin for that, but some people have also had issues with that plugin. We don't test with that plugin, so if you use it, do so at your own risk.

My digital dice are slow

1. Turn on hardware acceleration in your browser.
2. In DDB Go to 'My Collection' --> 'My Dice' --> Option Wheel -> Shadow Quality: Low.

Audio CSV format

You can create CSV (comma-separated values) files of your music links. All 3 titles (columns) are required. Tags should be seperated by |

The titles name, src, and tags must be lowercase.

Save the file as a .csv file with the below format.
