Welcome to the Mezzmo Kodi Addon Wiki!

The easy and best way to experience Kodi and share your media libraries.

Overview

Mezzmo Windows is a powerful and flexible media server that lets you stream all your media (videos, music and photos) to your devices and web browsers inside your home and outside your home. Install it onto your PC or laptops and start streaming all your files in minutes!

With Mezzmo and Kodi together, Mezzmo is a centralized DLNA / UPnP server which maintains your media libraries in one location but provides a powerful set of tools for metadata scraping, full customization of what each client sees, custom playlists with advanced query tools, full sharing of play counters, bookmarks (resume pointers) and similar with a full set of GUI based tools and powerful features for easily maintaining your libraries. Unlike many other DLNA / UPnP solutions Mezzmo has full metadata support with Kodi. This is one of many features which sets it apart from the others. Additional features include full subtitle support, preferred audio stream settings, trailers, web based access, support for live streaming, integrated radio station addons, H.265/HEVC 4K support and more. These features are all part of Mezzmo. For additional information, click here.

With the Mezzmo Kodi addon there is full integration into Kodi and its skins, database and features. The addon will automatically sync Kodi's database to Mezzmo in the background. You no longer need to worry about messing with the Kodi database. It's all taken care of for you. If you need to build a new client or start over with an existing client, just install Kodi, then the Mezzmo addon and everything else is automatic. Discovery of new media is automatic in Mezzmo with a full set of customization features for managing the metadata in your library.

Update announcement January 10, 2025

Note that with the recent announcement from Mezzmo to stop the sale and support of Mezzmo at the end of February 2025, this Wiki and the Mezzmo Kodi addon repository are moving. The Mezzmo Kodi addon will continue to be supported. New releases of the addon were published today to repoint the existing Mezzmo Kodi addon clients to the new repository.

Here are useful links to help with continuing support for the Mezzmo Kodi addon, channels and such which are supported by jbinkley60.

New Mezzmo Kodi Addon Wiki

New Mezzmo Kodi Addon GitHub Code Repository

The Kodi 18 version of the Mezzmo Kodi Addon which supports the new repository is v1.2.0.7

The Kodi 19+ (currently 19-22) version of the Mezzmo Kodi Addon which supports the new repository is v2.2.1.3

If you have been taking regular Mezzmo Kodi addon updates via the repository these new releases will automatically be updated in your Kodi clients and you need to do nothing.

Over the next week or so I'll be moving the remaining repos, updating some links in the Wiki pages and more. Support will still be available via the Kodi forum or via GitHub.

What's New ?

Updated January 12, 2025

The Mezzmo Kodi addon maintains a continuous development stream regularly deploying new fixes and features. The release notes can be found here.. The most recent releases have continued focusing on tightening the integration with Kodi for folks using the Mezzmo Kodi addon in native mode and adding full support for Kodi v20 Nexus.

Additional Wiki updates were added which discuss how to manage Kodi upgrades and managing your storage with Mezzmo and the Mezzmo Kodi addon. The managing storage updates include easily adding capacity and moving your library media without rescraping your library or SQL tools.

Upcoming New Features

The Proposed New Features page highlights current suggestions and ideas for upcoming Mezzmo Kodi addon enhancements.

July 27, 2024 - new feature proposals were added for Kodi Additional Artwork and Enhanced Media Descriptions. Both are being targeted for the August release. Please review these new feature proposals, provide feedback and feel free to suggest others. Both of these features were delivered with the August 2.2.0.7 release.

November 2, 2024 - A new feature proposal was added for Mezzmo Volume Manager to allow centrally managing volume adjustments for video items in your Mezzmo library across all Kodi endpoints vs. on a client-by-client basis. You would not need to rerip your media and it would leverage certain keywords to signal the Mezzmo Kodi addon to adjust the Kodi volume accordingly. You could leverage Mezzmo's multi-select / bulk change capability if you wanted to adjust a set of items like an entire TV series.

Major New Features and Fixes

January 10, 2025 - Version 2.2.12 / 2.2.13 versions adds a new feature to monitor the Kodi Hide Watched status, a bug fix and moving the Mezzmo Kodi addon repository location.

New Mezzmo Ecosystem wiki page providing a one stop place to find all of the available Mezzmo channels, tools and utilities.

December 10, 2024 - Version 2.2.1.1 version a major feature enhancement called Last Played Media which allows quickly switching between recently viewed video media without leveraging smart playlists and similar. Now you can quickly see or switch to what you watched recently with just 2 remote clicks.

November 15, 2024 - Version 2.2.1.0 version is heavily focused on improving the look and feel of the Mezzmo search capabilities. It has 2 new addon options to allow setting a default search sort order and content type, since (depending upon your search criteria) Mezzmo can return movies, TV episodes, music videos, songs and more. This release also adds a new feature to help better manage automatically discovered PVR recordings playcount values that you may be watching as they are being added to your Mezzmo / Kodi library.

October 1, 2024 - Version 2.2.0.9 updates the global search context menus to they provide the same functionality as when browsing your Mezzmo library within Kodi. Additionally you can now mark music files watched and unwatched when browsing search results. Previously this was only available when browsing via GUI. This will also clear the music bookmarks when marking unwatched. Music bookmarks and the ability to resume music tracks is generally not available with native Kodi. It is fully supported with the Mezzmo Kodi addon, regardless of the music track length. An additional bug fix is included to improve context menu behavior and avoid dropping out of GUI mode when performing some search item context menu actions.

September 12, 2004 - Version 2.2.0.8 adds support for Kodi 22 Piers interim development builds and improves actor / actress artwork support between Mezzmo and Kodi. A new feature provides automatic generation of actor thumb records in the Kodi art table from Mezzmo so now all Kodi actors with Mezzmo artwork will display the actor image in the Kodi actor browse view. Previously the actor images only displayed in the Video Information cast view for Kodi library items. This feature allows centrally managing all Kodi actor artwork across multiple Kodi instances and / or Kodi versions leveraging Mezzmo flat actor artwork structure (i.e. multiple images not required for the same actor in different movies, episodes etc..). These are vast improvements over standalone Kodi instances and other Kodi sharing solutions.

August 4, 2004 - Version 2.2.0.7 adds the Kodi Additional Artwork and Enhanced Media Descriptions features and some other minor enhancements. Note that Mezzmo version 6.0.7.25 is required to take advantage of the Kodi Additional Artwork feature since it requires PNG file support in the UserPoster folder.

June 15, 2024 - Versions 1.2.0.6/2.2.0.6 contain a minor enhancement to stop syncing the Mezzmo Unknown Artist value to the Kodi database and fixes an issue caused by path table behavior change change in Kodi 21 where information panel for TV Episodes was not working in some instances using Kodi native mode.

May 15, 2024 - Versions 1.2.0.5/2.2.0.5 contain a minor bug fix and add new feature where you can select folder / playlist backdrops served from your Mezzmo folder / playlist backdrop artwork, the standard addon backdrop or none. Previously only the standard addon backdrop was available.

Mezzmo addon features

Why Mezzmo ?

Kodi, with its huge addon community, has a ton of functionality and there are a number of other popular media sharing solutions, so why Mezzmo and the Mezzmo Kodi addon ?

While both statements are true they highlight the challenges today for many Kodi users. Many users start out enjoying the capabilities of Kodi and sometimes other sharing solutions only to find themselves spending more and more time managing the complexities that have built up over time. These complexities are often the many Kodi addons, metadata scraping challenges, software upgrade driven issues, media / file sharing challenges and limitations of various SMB, SMB mapping issues with certain operating systems, network performance issues and managing complex cache settings, time consuming NFO file structures and difficult XML file configurations, complex SQL / database setups and other complexities. Other popular Kodi library sharing solutions often cause their own set of complexities or force their users to sacrifice certain functionality. Other UPnP/DLNA sharing solutions have multiple addons that you must choose from depending upon whether you want their interface or Kodi native. With the Mezzmo Kodi addon you get both simultaneously in a single addon.

The Mezzmo Kodi addon was designed to simplify the Kodi experience, eliminate all of these complexities, maximize the features available, give you your time back to enjoy watching your media and automate as much as possible. Kodi is a great media client and a goal of the Mezzmo Kodi addon is to make it even better. Many Mezzmo users often find themselves no longer spending nearly so much of their time maintaining Kodi, Kodi addons or their Kodi databases. The challenges of dealing with Kodi's various scrapers, trying to rescrape or change individual metadata items and more can be very frustrating. Kodi instances leveraging Mezzmo are typically far more stable as many of the administrative functions are moved to and managed by Mezzmo, leaving the Kodi clients to be more efficient and much less complex. In Kodi environments where multiple clients are involved the value is even greater since, with Mezzmo, you can centrally manage what your clients see and not spend time trying to manage each client. The Mezzmo Kodi addon works with all Kodi skins and has some features which may help overcome limitations with some skins.

Mezzmo will also grow with you as your needs increase. Whether you want superior library management tools, share your library across multiple Kodi and non-Kodi clients, host all forms of media, add parental controls and more, Mezzmo has the solution for you. See here for a complete set of Mezzmo features.

If you are ready to fully enjoy Kodi the easy way, then Mezzmo is probably the solution for you.
